Celebrating a gender equality milestone in Oxford's Medical Sciences Division: all departments have achieved an Athena Swan silver award

Two medical science researchers, alongside the text '10 Years of Athena SWAN, 2012-2022, Oxford MedSci Goes Silver'

The Athena Swan Charter supports gender equality within higher education (HE) and research.

2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the first Athena Swan applications from Oxford University's Medical Sciences Division. It also marks the year when all 16 of our departments have achieved a silver award.

Our silver awards recognise departments' commitment to:

  • gender equality
  • understanding their own culture and context
  • actively engaging with their communities
  • detailed and ambitious action plans.

Importantly, the awards also recognise the impact of departments' actions.

Visit the Medical Sciences Division's website for information about how each department has reached silver.
