Longitudinal Analysis of Post-Hospital Discharge Rates of Suicide in Oxfordshire
Project Leader: Dr Uy Hoang, Academic Clinical Fellow
Uy is an Academic Clinical Fellow in the Department of Public Health. His current research focuses on exploring the trend in the rates of suicide post-hospital discharge, in collaboration with Professor Hawton of the Centre for Suicide Research. They are investigating whether the rates of suicide post-discharge from psychiatric inpatient care facilities in Oxfordshire differ from the national trends and how these rates have changes over the past 25 years. Using psychiatric records and a database linked to death certificates, Uy and colleagues aim to quantify the risk of suicide in a range of age groups and between the sexes, as well as standardise mortality rates against the general Oxfordshire population.
