Managing infants with viral bronchiolitis in primary and secondary care
Assessing the impact of NICE guidelines on infant management
Project leader: Dr Simon Drysdale, NIHR Clinical Lecturer
Simon has been investigating the management of infants with viral bronchiolitis in primary and secondary care with a grant from the University of Oxford Medical Sciences Division. A new NICE guideline for bronchiolitis was published in June 2015 and Simon surveyed 1001 GPs and >110 hospital Trusts prior to this to assess their management. The data from this project is currently been written up for publication.
Simon has also applied for further funding to re-survey GPs and hospital Trusts one year after the previous survey to assess the impact of the NICE guideline. This study could potentially impact on how infants with bronchiolitis are managed in the local region.
